The Unified Group’s 2016 Western Regional was held in Phoenix, Arizona March 17-18th. The session opened up with an in-depth discussion led by Tim Smerz (Air Comfort) regarding Fleet Management. The show-and-share discussion allowed members to discuss topics such as lease versus purchasing and comparison of type and models. Many concurred to the fact that Ram Pro Master was the way to go! Customer service is excellent and they provide more room inside, making day to day life much easier for those out in the field. Other topics brought up for discussion were fuel, maintenance, transit benefits, running parts costs and truck charges.

Andy Foster (Pacific Rim Mechanical) shared comprehensive research into technology and tools in the field, opening up the idea of creating software techs can use on their phones, giving the tech the ability to see who is available to give PO; select vendor, work order and request. Andy mentioned that a system as such could solve a lot of “wasted time”.

Other topics discussed during this two day session:

  • Exploration into restaurant repair
  • Managers hosting biweekly with supervisors and weekly meetings with sales, joined with monthly over-view meetings, emphasizing the importance of daily conversation.
  • Recruiting and retention and the benefit on internships within the company
  • Field training and accountability for techs

Special thanks to Jeremy Ettesvold and IMCOR for allowing our members to tour their company!
