For their 40th anniversary, DEN Management wanted to put on an event that more than 350 people would remember. Lindsay Young and Melissa Dick share the details.

 1. Where did you get the idea to do a James Bond-themed event?
“The start of the idea came to me because I remembered Kevin Almon talking about a movie night he did with his customers and employees where he rented out the theater,” said Melissa. “We wanted to do something unique and fun for our employees and customers to celebrate our 40th year anniversary,” said Lindsay. “Melissa looked back at 1971 to see what happened and saw Diamonds are Forever.  We thought we could play off this really well and host a party at the local theater (Warren Theater).”

2. How did you get so many people to attend?
“For our employees, we put announcements in their paychecks three times to tell them about the party and have them order their tuxedo t-shirts,” said Lindsay. “For our customers, we created an email invitation and sent it out four times telling our customers about it. Our top 20 customers received a printed invitation accompanied with a martini glass filled with playing cards, dice, and chips.”
“The other thing that I thought turned out cool was the diamonds that Lindsay found,” said Melissa. “We had some customers that couldn't attend and we had diamonds sent to them before and/or after the event. I think that created interest as well.”

3. Any advice for other members who want to do something unique/different for an event?
“Think of something everyone enjoys doing and make it BIG,” said Lindsey. “If it’s crazy, then go with it.  If it makes you a little uncomfortable, then go for it.  That is our gage when we are trying something new and different.” “Our goal with every event is to make people stop long enough to say ‘What the heck is going on there?’” said Melissa. “Our party was 20 days ago and I got stopped last night by Joe Johnson who said ‘Man, that was a crazy party; the tuxes, the t-shirts...’ I guess it stuck with him!
