Training is extremely important in today’s workplace because it represents an opportunity for employees to grow their knowledge base and improve their job skills to become more effective in their roles. Jeff Ruby, Founder & CEO of RedRock Leadership presented “Design & Build Your Foundation for Success” at The Unified Group’s 2020 Service Management Forum. Jeff has built a reputation as a dynamic and inspiring speaker who calls upon stories from his personal experiences to help companies improve and individuals overcome the challenges that keep them from accomplishing their personal goals.
Our member, Joel Knight, Vice President of Commercial Services for Harvey W. Hottel learned firsthand, how important assessing one’s self and fellow employees was to the success of the company. He entered into a drawing offered by Jeff Ruby and won a consultation for Harvey W. Hottel. Joel worked with Jeff to identify issues and Jeff recommended changes. Those changes were noted, addressed, and implemented immediately after the consultation.
“When we did the TTI assessment and had the meeting with Jeff Ruby, we found out a lot about ourselves, but even more importantly, during our meeting we found that our part’s driver was heavily weighted in the “Promoter” category. Jeff asked about this particular person and inquired what his position was within the company. When I stated that he was a part’s driver, he said, “You should seriously look into him being a salesman for your company”. We are now going on almost a year of him stepping into a sales role and he is rapidly growing our sales with high closures of PM agreements and an increased turnaround on our service repair sales. So, this was a diamond in the rough moment for us,” said Knight.
“This was a learning experience about how to utilize people properly within our department. It was very enlightening. It showed us how we could focus on utilizing personnel on projects that played to their strengths, which has helped us grow and become more efficient,” said Knight.
One of the best ways to enhance knowledge and skills is through training. Getting employees exposed to assessments, in addition to relevant and consistent training can help companies improve performance and increase results in the workplace. This creates alignment between employers and their employees in terms of knowledge, skills, values, and abilities.
