Joel Knight, Operations Manager at Harvey W. Hottel met Jeff Ruby of RedRock Leadership through The Unified Group at the 2020 Service Management Forum in Florida. Ruby gave insight into the EOS, Entrepreneurial Operating System®, process which is a set of tools that helps leadership teams throughout the world align their companies’ vision, traction, and team health.

“What started us on this journey, was winning a drawing at that forum for a free TTI Assessment of my team. During that zoom call a month later, I realized that Jeff wasn’t just another business consultant,” Knight said. “He was a leadership consultant that helped businesses by working with them to develop an accountability structure and processes that promote growth.”

Knight stayed connected with Ruby over the next year and ended up seeing him at The Unified Groups’ 2021 Leadership Forum with several other leaders from Harvey W. Hottel and they saw the same potential that Knight had seen. They decided to bring Ruby in for a consultation.

Fast forward to the Fall of 2022 and Harvey W. Hottel’s leadership team started the EOS process, which began with a series of meetings including a Focus Day Meeting, Vision Day Meeting and a First Quarter Follow-Up meeting.

“Since working with Jeff, we have restructured our company, created and distributed a new accountability chart (which allows all employees to see who their direct report is and what their roles entail) and implemented weekly Level 10 meetings with each of our internal departments,” Knight said.

With every major accomplishment made, Harvey W. Hottel has completed more than 10 minor accomplishments, so there has been a lot of changes that can be seen and felt throughout the company.

“One thing that I can tell you, is that this process will expose every issue within your organization,” Knight said. “However, Jeff has worked with us on how to correct these issues and move forward in pursuit of our goals.”

It has been an amazing journey so far and no one at Harvey W. Hottel could have imagined how difficult but also beneficial it would be. This process is only as good as the effort put into it. Ruby does not give you the answers, he makes you work to find them on your own. He is there to help you get up on your own two feet and if you fall, he helps you back up.

“I believe in the EOS process, but I didn’t buy into the EOS process in the beginning, I bought into Jeff Ruby. He is unlike anyone that I have worked with in the past, in the way that he cares about the companies that he works with,” Knight said. “You can tell that his business isn’t about implementing EOS, it’s about helping companies and helping people. He just utilizes the EOS system to help do that. I consider Jeff a coach, mentor & friend. I can honestly say that not only would our company not be where we are today, but I wouldn’t be where I am without his guidance.”

If any company is looking to grow, Ruby is a highly recommended consultant. Though having Ruby come into your company does not guarantee growth, he will guide your leadership team to where the company needs to be to grow. If you put in the work as well, nothing can stop you.

Overall, Harvey W. Hottel is still adapting to the EOS® changes and implementations but is on the rise towards greater success.
