How many places can you go where you have the ability to be completely transparent, while having faith in confidentiality with every person around? Do you have a resource of like-minded, yet non-competitive professionals that will provide you with their company secrets and blueprints on how they successfully operate? Intech Mechanical and 30 other companies throughout the nation have exactly that through their membership with The Unified Group.

On Friday, June 23, Intech Mechanical hosted a town hall meeting for their employees. Intech’s Vice President (and Unified Group member for 4.5 years), Gary Myers, invited his peers from the group to attend and essentially be a fly-on-the-wall to learn how they operate their quarterly meetings. Several owners within the group attended virtually.

For being a town hall meeting for a construction company, very little information about construction was talked about. Rather, it was all about the people. “With great people everything else is easy,” Myers said.

The meeting began with an introduction of new employees and transitioned into upcoming projects. A safety award was given to a deserving employee, and an update regarding Intech’s Best Place to Work survey was given. A mental health and wellness discussion was another hot topic, where an overview of what mental health is, was provided. Intech’s leadership team shared reminders to be there for one another, while providing examples of how to practice mindfulness and balance. The meeting concluded with a thank you to those retiring and a reminder of what upcoming events are being offered to employees.

Immediately following the town hall meeting, Paul Thurston of Cox-Powell Corporation was inspired and decided to set up a meeting with a similar format. Overall, this is what The Unified Group is all about – sharing best practices to help each other grow in a positive direction. Thank you to Intech Mechanical for allowing The Unified Group membership to attend and absorb excellent ideas!
