For the last nine years, the top 40 HVAC personnel under the age of 40 years old were recognized publicly for all of their hard work at dedication to their career. This year, two individuals within The Unified Group were awarded the "Top 40 Under 40" title. Jon Castro of B&I Contractor's, Inc. and Todd Jacks of Wiegmann Associates received recognition.

Jon Castro, B&I Contractor's, Inc.

"Jon Castro has been an employee of B&I Contractor’s Sheet Metal since 2011 and
accountable for all of B&I Contractor’s Sheet Metal operations since 2016. This includes all
P&L, employee training, and overseeing the fabrication shop, among other tasks.

Because two of B&I’s core markets are the health care and educational sectors, over the past
decade they have helped tens of thousands of patients receive cutting-edge health care
and assist with providing students with state-of-the-art educational facilities. With the
tremendous population growth that has taken place in South Florida, the need for
additional hospitals and schools has been integral to the overall quality of life in the area.

‘Being able to assist our communities, the communities that we live in and are a part of,
has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career,’ Castro said. ‘On a more personal
note, my son was born three months premature in 2021 and spent 66 days in a NICU. He’s
a healthy, happy energetic toddler now. But that experience of being a parent with a child
in the NICU has forever changed me. The lens that I view health care projects through is so
much more personal now. The buildings we work on truly change people’s lives forever...’“
