Design Mechanical, Inc. Celebrates 10 Years in Business

Kansas City, KS – Design Mechanical, Inc. (DMI) mechanical contractor is celebrating their 10 year anniversary. The DMI doors opened on September 3, 2003.   “Many milestones have been overcome to get to this point,” said Bill Iler, President.

DMI has survived many obstacles to grow to the $30 million company that it is today. One of those was moving three times before finally settling into their own facility in 2009 on the north side of I-35 off Cambridge Circle, outside of downtown Kansas City. “We call it our $2 million billboard”, says General Manager, Valerie Mussett.

The struggling economy and unpredictable weather have played into the focus and general direction of the company. “You have to be able to adapt in our business. Take advantage of those opportunities that come your way and take into consideration what makes sense,” said Bill. Acquiring a refrigeration group in 2009 helped DMI expand its services within the HVAC industry. And taking on the selling of Kysor Warren line of refrigeration equipment has proven to be rewarding as well.

Long term goals include: continue to be honest and trustworthy, innovative, productive, customer-driven, strong marketing and sales, technically the best and the industry leader.

Design Mechanical, Inc. is an award-winning heating, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanical contractor for the commercial and industrial markets. They provide service, repair, retrofit, tenant finish and piping for HVAC/R applications. DMI has been recognized in Ingram’s “Corporate Report 100” in three out of the last five years, as well as “Best Companies to Work For”.

“We have been fortunate as a company to benefit from the strong work ethic, dedication and enthusiasm of our employees and utilized that asset to build lasting relationships with the customers we serve,” said Bill. “Coupled with our innovative and proven practices in the HVAC industry, we are proud of the recognition and success we have enjoyed to date and look forward to many years of continued growth and success.”
