Remember from the book Lessons from the Mouse, work is certainly not recreation or sport, but if you’re going to spend half of your walking hours at it, shouldn't you at least have a little fun? There's no question that your role can be very stressful. You might not be the one in front of a closed Space Mountain, but you could be the one who has to tell a client that no one will be on site today or the one to ask a technician to take one more call. Here are some ways to add fun:

  1. Smile
  2. Play with customers – let them know you’re happy to be talking with them
  3. Connect with co-workers
  4. Don’t take yourself too seriously
  5. Bear in mind you’re paid to have fun – employees who enjoy what they do are far more likely to do their job well and to satisfy customers than those employees who see work as drudgery
  6. Fake it
  7. Make a contest of it
  8. Remember the greater good of your job – a job’s purpose is always bigger than a job’s tasks

Question: How do you find the fun in your job, while being respectful of customers?
