The new Silica Standard has been causing increased awareness in the mechanical industry.  Since protocols and standards change rapidly, it’s beneficial to have resources available to assist with implementation.  Sharing of information and expertise is invaluable for members of The Unified Group.

After The Unified Group published a recent article that outlined the importance of the Silica program to the employees at Air Comfort Corporation, Service Unlimited, Inc., reached out to their fellow member to gain more insight.  “This is a topic that on the surface most employees don’t feel applies to them. We wanted to awaken them to the risks of certain activities and how we can safely perform those tasks. We also wanted to stress their responsibility on a job site to ensure that no other subcontractors were exposing our staff or customers to this risk,” said Service Unlimited, Inc.’s Vice President & General Manager, Brian Martinenza Jr.

Service Unlimited, Inc., utilized information from their local OSHA office in conjunction with a video presentation provided from Air Comfort for their employee training needs.  The video on Silica relates to the mechanical industry outlining the dangers involved and how to eliminate those dangers for the employees. This member sharing helped streamline the Silica training for Service Unlimited, which resulted in less preparation time.

“When we have new or different training needs my first contact will be to reach out to the members on The Unified Group email tool!  It doesn’t make sense to reinvent the wheel when people we trust have proven results with presentations and materials they’ve already developed and are willing to share,” said Martinenza Jr.

The power of member sharing allows everyone to work through ideas and obstacles to help grow their businesses.  Members are able to gain valuable insight by hearing their peers’ success stories.
