Unified Group members from all over the US traveled to Atlanta where Tebarco Mechanical hosted The Unified Group’s 2018 BIM Process Forum.  The group visited one of their job sites at the Atlanta Zoo to see a Trimble demo and then toured their facility and BIM Cave which included a chance for all to try out their virtual reality headset.  We spent the rest of the first day in Tebarco’s conference room sharing best practices and comparing operational procedures of the different companies.  “I feel I gained a wealth of information and some great contacts to reach out to as I grow this department for my company.” Dave Cupp (Blauch Brothers)

The two day forum was a facilitated discussion where the attendees shared best practices on estimating, scheduling and effective tools to manage projects, spooling and job mapping and project management from a BIM perspective.  “Learning different methods of solving problems and having a couple project managers present to see their involvement was the best part of the meeting.” Stephen Norcross (VHV Company)

Rene Ward from Trimble joined the group to share the benefits of using SysQue software.  Dzan Ta of Repro Products spoke about Autodesk/AutoCAD and Revit and gave the members useful videos and information to make life easier.   Chris Dysart from Building Point Southeast was also there to answer any questions about shooting Trimble points.

There were many tips, tricks and new ideas shared throughout the session and the group learned they are not alone in some of their struggles.  “The best part of the meeting for me was hearing that issues in my company are similar for every contractor.” Jon Skoglund (Peterson Sheet Metal)

A big thank you to Tebarco Mechanical for hosting the session and the Task Force for their hard work in creating the agenda:  Jonathan Barden and Jesse Grant (Tebarco Mechanical), Stephen Norcross (VHV Company), Patrick Zulick (Johnson & Jordan), and Brady Coulombe (Peterson Sheet Metal).
